I graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Connecticut in 1991. I have worked for several large and small printing companies, cutting my teeth running a press and hydraulic cutter, leading to my current position as Creative Director for KnowledgeBase Marketing, Inc. I have been with KBM since 1995.

While working for KBM in 1996, I was asked to design and maintain their corporate website. That site is long gone, but I was integral in it's evolution and redesigns in 1998, 2001 and 2003, 2006 and currently serve as our Webmaster.

Needless to say, once my appetite was wet from that first web project, I have been freelancing in both print-based projects and websites for since 1999.

Other distractions that keep me busy besides graphic design and writing is motorcycles and shooting. I've been riding since 1987, and have over 80,000 miles under my belt.

I live in Dallas with my wife, Jennifer and my two children, Justin and daughter Bridget.

Today, I have my own freelance company, whalen.design where I offer a full range of graphic design services, photography and web development.
